Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring my dog?

YES!  Your best friend is welcome to this race! Please remember that all dogs (and their people) must be physically capable of participating. If a dog is older or unaccustomed to extensive exercise or other dogs/large crowds, he/she will probably be happier at home.

Do I need to have my dog on a leash?

YES!  For the safety of all participants, 2-legged and 4-legged, ALL dogs need to be on a leash no more than 6 feet long. If your dog breaks free, please stop your race and notify a volunteer as soon as possible. While we aren’t pros at catching canines, there are some measures we can offer you as soon as it happens. The sooner we are notified, the better.

What kind of leash can I use?

Retractable leashes will not be allowed. Again, safety for all participating, 2-legged and 4-legged.

Are all dog breeds welcome?

YES! We believe it’s not fair to discriminate. If your dog is well behaved, they are welcome to come out and get their run on with you! However, please be sure your dog is capable of the distance you have registered to run/walk.

Will you supply water for my dog?

YES! We will have community style water at the start/finish as well as at each aid station.

Can I bring more than one dog?

Unfortunately, no. Safety on the course is #1 priority. 1:1 ratio is the rule.

Will this event be canceled due to weather?

Only if conditions are considered extremely dangerous (severe lightning). In case of cancellation, an announcement will be made via the Tails ‘n Trails Facebook page. Refunds are not given, and all proceeds still go to the rescues.

I signed up, but now I can’t run this event; can I get my money back?

No refunds will be issued.

I’d like to sponsor, how do I?

Please email us at tailsntrailsomaha@gmail.com.

What shirts will be provided?

Our shirts are unisex, short sleeve and 35/65 blend.

Will there be chipped timing?

Yes! Tails ‘n Trails is chip timed thanks to Scott Giddings!

Can I run with a stroller?

Due to the nature of the trail (mowed grass, dirt) for the half-marathon, 10K, and 5K, running with a stroller is not advised. However: if you are doing the 1-mile walk, strollers are permitted as it is on a paved trail.

Can my kids run?

Yes!  Kids are welcome to run if registered. Ages 5 and under can participate in the 1-mile walk for free with a registered adult 18 years and older. Any kids running/walking other distances will need to register for liability reasons–no exceptions.

Is there a cut-off time?

Yes. The cut-off time for all races is 1 p.m. If it appears you will not finish in the allotted time left for the race, you will not be allowed back on course and will be dropped down to the next distance.

Race Transfers (“I signed up for the half marathon, but I want to run the 10K instead,” etc.)

All transfer requests prior to race day will be handled by the race directors. Downgrades and bib transfer accommodations can be made with sufficient notice to the race directors. We will only accept downgrades between distances, without a refund. Please contact us at tailsntrailsomaha@gmail.com.
